Parish council

The Upper Broughton Parish Council comprise the following individuals:

Meeting dates are advertised on the village notice board at the top of Well Lane.  Members of the public are encouraged to attend.

Upper Broughton Parish Council holds meetings in January, March, May (the Annual Meeting of the Parish Council), June, September & December on the second Wednesday. The meetings start at 7.30pm and members of the press and public are welcome to attend. In addition Residents have an opportunity during an adjournment of the formal meeting to address Council on any subject.

The parish council own the village hall and adjoining Rose Cottage. Day to day management of the hall is carried out by the Village Hall Management Committee (VHMC). The fabric of the building is the responsibility of the parish council.

Currently the VHMC and PC are working in partnership to provide disabled and generally improved toilet facilities at the hall together with refurbishment of the kitchen. The total cost of the project is in the region of £70,000.

The Parish Council maintain the children’s play equipment and arrange grass cutting on Cross Green.

Parish councils are also a conduit for consultation and reporting of problems to Rushcliffe Borough Council and Nottinghamshire County Council. Borough and County Councillors are invited and attend some parish council meetings.
