Parish minutes

Monday, May 18th, 2009

Draft minutes of the recent Parish Meeting can be found here.

Every English parish must have a parish meeting.  The meeting consists of local government electors registered in the parish.  If there is a parish council its chairman must preside (if present), or in his absence the vice-chairman (if present).  The meeting must assemble annually, a quorum is two.

In most cases a resolution is persuasive only, the parish council may legally disregard it and leave the electors to their remedy at the next election.

Also attached are minutes of the March Parish Council meeting.

Anyone for Pilates?

Monday, May 11th, 2009

The Village Hall Committee is looking into the possibility of running a ‘Pilates’ course in the Village Hall starting in September 2009.  Janine Hopper would like to know whether people would prefer such a class to be run during the day or in the evening.  A minimum of 10 people are required to make the course viable.

If you are interested in joining such a class please contact Janine (01664 822881) as soon as possible with their name, contact tel no. and whether they prefer day or evening.

Crime update from Paul Noone

Sunday, May 10th, 2009

Once again, a big thank you is in order as our crime statistics for March and April were again ZERO.   I’m convinced it is due to the whole village looking after their selves and their neighbours with all matters to do with security and safety.

Whilst there is, currently, a reduction in burglary type offences, others are taking it’s place. Criminal damage has increased, particularly in the larger villages and anti-social behaviour is also something which is likely to increase particularly with the lighter and warmer evenings.  Please, also beware that there appears to be an increase in fraud type crimes, so please take extra care to destroy all unwanted mail not just so-called ‘junk mail’ - paying particular interest to anything that may have your bank or other specific security details. Criminals only need your full name and address together with any other details they can glean to set up false credit card applications and transactions.

Emma Thacker our local PC has been asked by her superiors to ‘hit the streets’ with her speed gun. So please slow down - not that any of us are prone to speeding anyway ! ! !

There is an upturn in crime regarding the theft of all things to do with the garde so remember, please, when working or even relaxing in the garden please make sure that if you’re in the back garden all tools, equipment and toys are not left in the front or at least do make sure they are out of sight. You can also security mark all of your equipment with ‘Smartwater’ or special pens with any type of security mark significant to yourselves. For any more information on these or any other subjects please contact me.
