2010 Art Show review

The annual Upper Broughton Art Show was a great success and the village hall and especially the newly decorated Rose Cottage has never looked more splendid.

190 pieces of art work including paintings, sculptures, wood carving, and pottery, were on display around both rooms.  I would like to thank everyone who helped as such a lot of work goes into creating a very popular event.  We now have a list of some new artists who came to the show and would like details for next year.  That is good news as different styles and media are always welcome.  After all the figures were collected, artists paid for their sales and expenses taken out we have raised £1,689.02 which goes towards the running costs of the village hall.  Many thanks to our treasurer, Steve Coates who does a splendid job.  This year was the first time we had a sponsor for the preview evening, Mark Bygott of Intercounty Estate Agents.  This was a new venture which was welcomed by the committee.  The People’s Choice trophy was awarded to Mike Weston for his painting titled “Springtime”.  As usual we had a very generous raffle and the winners are listed below.
